Dining in Epen and surroundings
Dining out in Epen and the surrounding area? Of course, you’re welcome to cook in your apartment, all our hotel apartments are fully equipped for that. But let’s be honest: on holiday, things are just a little different. We personally love going out for dinner and enjoying local dishes. Below you’ll find our recommendations, all within walking distance or a very short drive. If you wish, we are happy to reserve a table for you.
Epen – Restaurant Gerardushoeve
The Gerardushoeve team lets you taste our region, all while overlooking one of the most breathtaking views imaginable.
The wines are made within walking distance, using grapes nourished by Limburg loess and limestone. The beef comes from cattle born and raised in Margraten. The pigs in Ulestraten and Mechelen are also well cared for. Butchers Kusters and Lenoir ensure humane and responsible processing.
The game used in the dishes comes from the Vijlenerbos, where you may already have walked and the trout comes from Gulpen. Fresh vegetables and fruit are picked, harvested and delivered straight from local farmers directly to the restaurant’s kitchen.

Remersdaal – Taverne Haciënda (Belgium)
The menu at Taverne Haciënda revolves around honest, good food. This means they work with local products from regional suppliers, all at fair prices. You’re welcome to drop in for lunch, skip cooking for an evening, or simply enjoy a relaxing drink. Their motto is: “Goot aete en gèèr hie zeen” Limburg dialect for “good food and being happy to be here.”
The taverne has direct access to local hiking routes thanks to its location next to the Veursbos forest, which forms part of the Limburg junction network. From here, you can immediately start a walking route through the Voeren region.

Camerig – Restaurant Buitenlust
Near the top of the Camerigerberg, quietly nestled against the edge of the Vijlenerbos, you’ll find Restaurant Buitenlust. It’s the spot with the most unique view in all of the Netherlands… which owner John van Ham offers completely free of charge.
Together with John, we have created a lovely three-course menu at an attractive price. Buitenlust offers a beautiful combination of charming and unique elements.

Vaals 3LP – Restaurant De Bokkerijder
The name may sound mysterious, but it belongs to a well-loved restaurant. According to legend, this location in the Vaalser forests was once a gathering place for the infamous Bokkerijders, a band of robbers who, in the early 18th century, rode through Limburg at night on goats, causing unrest.
Panorama Restaurant De Bokkerijder is situated at the Three-Country Point in Vaals, one of the most beautiful spots in South Limburg, with breathtaking views over Vaals and the historic German city of Aachen.
